At the tender age of 11, Kate is the youngest member of the Band. Kate started to learn Cornet about two years ago and is already making a name for herself as a bright new talent in the Brass Band world. She has already entered numerous local music competitions notably the Tynedale & Wansbeck Music Festivals, picking up a clutch of prizes on the way.

Inspired by her Mum, Yvonne, the Band's Soprano player and her Dad, Steve, Reg Vardy's Resident Conductor & Principal Eb Bass, Kate has brass playing in her genes and with their help and support, Kate has the potential to become a very fine Cornet player.

Kate is also a member of the Chester-le-Street Riverside Junior Band and is currently under the brass tutorage of Alistair Storey at school.

On 5th May, Kate made her debut as a soloist with the Band playing Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'I Don't Know How to Love Him' from Jesus Christ Superstar. She won the heart's of all the audience and many plaudits for her faultless performance.
