Janice began playing the cornet after encouragement from her Dad, Alan who is the Band's longest serving member.

She started to learn cornet at the age of eleven and had lessons under the tutorage of David Blakey at secondary school. Once confident of being able to read and play music she joined the Felling Band. Janice's playing progressed very quickly and she was soon the Band's principal cornet a position she has held for a total of 17 years (on and off!).

Janice is married to Kris who is the Band's Principal Percussionist. They have two children Rachel, 4 and Kate, 2
